Community Guidelines

Everything here is unfinished on purpose. That changes how we listen and how we answer.

Give feedback you'd want to receive

  • Answer the question the musician actually asked.
  • Be specific: name the moment, the second, the part that landed or lost you.
  • Say what's working before what isn't, because it makes the rest usable.
  • “I'd cut the intro” beats “this is boring”. Never “this is bad”.

Music, AI and honest disclosure

TuneCheck is for people developing music and asking for human feedback. Human music in progress describes the person behind the TuneCheck, the creative decisions they make and the musicians who listen and respond. Music made with generative AI is welcome here, as long as it is described accurately.

Every TuneCheck you publish asks how each version was made:

  • Human-made: generative AI wasn't used to create the composition, lyrics or performance.
  • AI-assisted: you developed the music, and generative AI contributed some creative material.
  • AI-generated: generative AI created a substantial portion of the music or the performance.
  • Technical AI tools used only for cleanup, mixing, mastering, tuning, stem separation or transcription can still be Human-made.
  • Conventional virtual instruments, drum machines, effects and properly licensed samples are not generative AI.
  • You must have permission to share every performance and recording you publish.
  • You can correct your own disclosure at any time, and doing so is encouraged.
  • Using AI is not a violation. Describing it inaccurately is, and may lead to a TuneCheck being reviewed or removed.

TuneCheck is not a generator, a separate AI community, or a place for uploading large numbers of finished songs. It stays a place for work in progress and specific questions.

Treat unreleased music as borrowed

  • Don't record, download, redistribute, reuse or share someone's music without permission.
  • Don't repost lyrics, melodies or ideas you heard here.
  • Selected-listener access is for you, not for forwarding.

Not allowed

  • Harassment, hate, threats, or personal attacks.
  • Sexual content involving minors, or any illegal content.
  • Describing how your music was made inaccurately, including undisclosed generative AI.
  • Uploading music you don't have permission to share.
  • Spam, self-promo dumping, or vote/rating manipulation.

Reporting and blocking

Every published TuneCheck has a “Report TuneCheck” action in its menu. Choose what you saw, add an optional note, and it goes straight to the TuneCheck team. Reports are private: the musician never learns who reported them, and a report on its own never hides anyone's music or affects their account.

Consequences

We may hide content, remove responses, or revoke access for misuse. Serious breaches (leaking someone's unreleased music, harassment) end participation immediately.

This is an initial beta implementation written for clarity, not a final legal agreement. It should receive legal review before TuneCheck opens to the wider public.
